About
Mossville Environmental Action Now (MEAN) was founded in the mid 1990’s in response to increased rates of serious illnesses and diseases that had previously not been seen in the ommunity. MEAN has led the effort to connect the pollution of the fourteen refineries and chemical processors in closest proximity to the community to the illnesses many residents suffer. MEAN is committed to providing accurate health assessments and toxicological evaluations to Mossville residents, especially those who have already been shown to have high levels of toxins in their bodies and ongoing exposure to a variety of toxins. MEAN continues working on multiple fronts in support of the residents of Mossville: advocating for environmental justice by educating local residents about the health and environmental impacts of toxic pollution, compelling federal and state environmental agencies to enforce existing laws and advocating for health services, relocation, and pollution reduction to improve the lives and health of residents.
How are Mossville residents affected?
